Vietnam posts record trade deficit of US$11b Jan-Apr

Vietnam posted a record trade deficit of US$11.1 billion in the first four months of 2008, driven by a sharp hike in oil and gas, construction materials and fertiliser imports, officials said Friday. Imports from January to April reached US$29.4 billion, up 71% year-on-year, while exports amounted to US$18.3 billion, up 27.6%, the General Statistical Office (GSO) said. Detailed plans for land use on Phu Quoc ready in Oct

The detailed tourism plans for Phu Quoc Island off southern Kien Giang Province will be ready in October, which will then facilitate the development of tourism projects there, a provincial official said.
